We finally hosted a Neighbourhood Weekend Event at Haven on Sunday 23 January.

Neighbourhood Week (30 October – 7 November) is supported by the Christchurch City Council Community Boards in order to promote neighbourhood connectedness, social inclusion and safety amongst others. We were grateful to receive assistance from our local community board – Akaroa-Waiwera to allow our event to occur.

Our event was delayed largely due to the fun resultant from the Earthquake, but we got there in the end. Our event was an opportunity to show off what we have been doing to our local neighbourhood, eat some yummy food and spend a bit of time slowing down the encroach of Old Mans Beard. A number (ok all) of our neighbours have politely commented that we have the noxious weed on our land.

Man On A Mission

We are pleased to see so many of the local community come along, get stuck in and have fun.

Attacking the Root

Now that we have the beginnings of access along the creek and this will continue as Dig Days occur during the year, we will be able to slow, halt and then eradicate Old Mans Beard whilst supplementing the native regeneration that is already occurring.

Earned!

Thank you for coming along, we hope you come back soon.
